This notice explains how Answer Line AI discloses automation and recording on calls, and what our business customers are responsible for. Answer Line AI is operated by Softbuildsapps LLC of Salt Lake City, Utah. Questions can be sent through the contact page.
Every call answered by Answer Line AI begins with a spoken disclosure, before intake starts, that the caller is speaking with an automated assistant and that the call is recorded — in substance: "an automated assistant — this call is recorded." The disclosure is part of the call flow itself: a custom greeting configured by the business can change the wording around it, but cannot remove the disclosure.
Recordings exist so the business can audit what was said and booked, so transcripts can be produced accurately, and so we can run quality review — checking that the assistant followed the business's configured scripts, prices and rules. Recordings are not used for advertising, and caller information is never sold.
Recording-consent law varies by state: some states allow recording with one party's consent, others require the consent of everyone on the call. Answer Line AI takes the conservative posture that works in both: the recording is announced on every call, to every caller, before the conversation begins. A caller who does not want to be recorded can end the call, ask to be transferred to a person, or leave a message through the business's normal channels instead. Continuing the call after the announcement is the basis on which the call proceeds.
Disclosure by the assistant supports — but does not replace — each business's own legal compliance. The business using Answer Line AI is responsible for:
Recordings and transcripts for a business are visible to that business's account holders and team members with account access. Platform operations may access them for quality review, support and safety, as described in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum. Recordings are retained for 13 months by default; the business controls the retention period for its own account and can request earlier deletion.
The assistant never claims to be human. If a caller asks whether they are speaking with a person or an AI, the assistant answers truthfully that it is an automated assistant, and offers a transfer to the business's on-call contact where one is configured.
